The Company was first formed by Maria Myers in 1995, taking members who had previously worked
in both professional and amateur companies, and making them into what has now become the totally
professional company that it is.
The company now consists of three partners and a core of a dozen regular performing members, with a wider call
on at least another dozen visiting actors. Since it's inception the policy has been to present plays that will
draw in the local audiences, and so the programmes have been mainly comedies, thrillers and farces,
but two open air performances in recent summers have proved that the company is quite capable of performing
such classics as "The Importance of Being Earnest" and "Charley's Aunt.
The company are also no strangers to Pantomime, having performed several in recent years. Last years "Mother Goose" saw
the Dame being played very successfully by a female. Paula was doubtful in the beginning, but was totally convinced
by the end of the run, and thoroughly enjoyed herself. So did the audiences.
The company is very lucky in being able to call on the services of actors of all ages, so there is no need to 'grey up'
youngsters of twenty, we have our own grey grannies and granddads! Our policy is to catch them young,
and we have several very useful teenagers we can call on when necessary.
Dreamstone is a company willing to travel to entertain you, to present for you whatever type of play
you feel would pull in your best audiences, and whatever it is, our policy is to present it in the best professional manner.
Many small towns have lost their local repertory theatres, and Dreamstone, like other similar
companies has filled that gap, and by the audience attendance has proved that there is still a demand for live drama.
A great favourite with local audiences are the plays adapted from Agatha Christie's stories, indeed the first
play the company did was "Murder At The Vicarage". Since then some forty plays all told have been
presented ranging through comedies and farces such as "Move Over Mrs. Markham", "One For The Road", "A Bedfull of Foreigners",
"The Opposite Sex" and "I'll Get My Man"; together with dramas such as "Rebecca", "Dial M For Murder"
"Death Trap", "Party To Murder" and "Arsenic and Old Lace".
Norman Robbins the playwright has given us much support and his plays "Tomb with a View" & "Tiptoe through the Tombstones"
have been presented by the company.
